FeedReady is a Shopify app that scans your product catalog against Google Merchant Center’s data requirements and reports issues in plain English. This policy explains what data FeedReady accesses, what it stores, and what it does with it.
What we access
When you install FeedReady, Shopify asks you to approve two permissions:
- read_products: lets FeedReady read your product catalog (titles, descriptions, images, prices, variants, inventory status, barcodes, vendor, and any Google Shopping metafields) to run its checks.
- read_legal_policies: lets FeedReady read your store’s shipping and refund policy pages, to check whether they’re set (a common cause of Google Merchant Center account suspension).
FeedReady does not request access to your customers’ personal information, orders, or payment data. It has no customer-facing component and no scopes that would allow it to.
What we store
FeedReady stores only what’s needed to keep your store connected: your shop domain and an OAuth access token, created when you install the app. This is standard for any Shopify app and is how FeedReady authenticates its requests to your store.
Your product catalog data is not stored. Every scan reads your catalog live from Shopify and displays results directly in your admin. Nothing about your products, prices, or inventory is saved in FeedReady’s database.
What we don’t do
FeedReady never writes to your products, variants, or metafields. It is a read-only diagnostic tool: it can tell you what to fix, but it never changes your store data on its own.
FeedReady does not connect to Google’s Merchant Center API or send your catalog data to Google or any other third party. All checks are performed using data already available through Shopify’s own APIs.
When you uninstall
Uninstalling FeedReady deletes your store’s connection data (shop domain and access token) from our database immediately. Nothing is retained after uninstall.
Where data is hosted
FeedReady is hosted on Vercel, with session data stored in a Postgres database provided by Neon. Both are standard infrastructure providers; neither has independent access to your Shopify data beyond what’s needed to run the app.
Analytics
Our public marketing pages (this page and feedready.app’s homepage) use Vercel Analytics to measure aggregate traffic, such as page views. It doesn’t use cookies and doesn’t collect personal information. This is separate from the app itself. FeedReady’s embedded admin experience does not include any analytics or tracking.
